Char Dham Yatra

In Char Dham Yatra of Uttarakhand the pilgrims visit the four religious sites that are Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. 

Yamunotri: Yamunotri hails the pilgrims and travelers to the shrine of Goddess Yamuna called Yamunotri temple and to the origin of river Yamuna from Champasar glacier. Yamunotri is situated at an elevation of around 3200 meters above the sea level in the Garhwal region.

Best time to visit Yamunotri: The best time to visit Yamunotri is from May to June.

How to reach Yamunotri: Yamunotri is a 5 km trek from Janki Chatti. From Rishikesh, Janki Chatti is at a distance of 215 km via NH 709 B which is a 7 hrs drive. From Dehradun, Janki Chatti is at a distance of 180 km via NH 709 B which is a 6 hrs drive. The nearest railway station is in Dehradun or Haridwar and the nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport at a distance of 210 km in Dehradun. Tourists can even take helicopter service from Dehradun.

Gangotri: Gangotri hails the pilgrims and travelers to the shrine of Goddess Ganga called Gangotri Temple. It is the origin of river Bhagirathi from Gangotri glacier (Gaumukh) which converges with river Alaknanda at Devprayag and is called the river Ganga. Gangotri is situated at an elevation of around 3400 meters above the sea level in the Garhwal region.

Best time to visit Gangotri: The best time to visit Gangotri is from May to June.

How to reach Gangotri: From Rishikesh, Gangotri is at a distance of 267 km via NH 34 which is a 9 hrs drive. From Dehradun, Gangotri is at a distance of 241 km via NH 34 which is a 8 hrs drive. The nearest railway station is in Dehradun or Haridwar and the nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport at a distance of around 267 km in Dehradun.

How to reach Kedarnath: Kedarnath temple is a 16 km trek from Gaurikund. From Rishikesh, Gaurikund is at a distance of 218 km via Rudraprayag (NH 7 and NH 109) which is a 7 hrs drive. From Dehradun, Gaurikund is at a distance of 256 km via Rudraprayag (NH 7 and NH 109). The nearest railway station is in Haridwar and the nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport at a distance of 224 km in Dehradun. Tourists can even take helicopter service from Dehradun.

The nearest railway station is in Haridwar and the nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport at a distance of 311 km in Dehradun. Tourists can even take helicopter service from Dehradun.
